Informality was for long in my research topic list. Finally, during 2016 I started to produce findings and some publications, in Landscape and Urban Planning, and procedia engineering.

The topic is extremely underdeveloped in the scientific literature. This is surprising, considering that is a fundamental driving factor for urban development in continents like Latin America and Africa. As my nice friend, Hannes  Taubenböck pointed out: “there is a strong need to develop spatially explicit approaches to measuring informal urban development”.

Our research portfolio to cope with this research gap is growing. Currently, we preparing another publication about informal urban development in Buenos Aires. More will become soon. As normally, I am open to discussing collaboration possibilities. Please feel free to contact me.
